Is Expired Sesame Oil Still Edible?

Our black sesame oil has been expired for 1.5 years. Can we still eat this?

Unfortunately we cannot answer your question without smelling and tasting the oil.

If edible oils are stored in a dark and cool place, they can still be used many months after the best-before date (MHD) has expired. However, they should no longer be used if they smell or taste rancid, pungent or acrid.

If the oil has been stored at room temperature and has now expired for more than a year, we tend to throw it away.
