Delicious Sesame Dressing: The 3 Best Recipes

Sesame salad dressing with mirin

Our first recipe for a sesame dressing goes very well with Asian cuisine.

  • If you need a salad dressing for a meal for two, you will need three tablespoons of unpeeled sesame seeds. Four tablespoons each of salad mayonnaise, rice vinegar, and soy sauce are added to the dressing as seasoning ingredients.
  • You will also need two teaspoons each of sesame oil and mirin, i.e. sweet rice wine, as well as some salt, pepper, and sugar. Also, measure out 60ml of water.
  • The preparation is simple: Roast the sesame seeds in a pan without fat until golden. Once it has cooled down, use a mortar and pestle to grind the sesame very finely. If you don’t have a mortar to hand, you can crush the sesame seeds in a blender.
  • Now mix the ground sesame with the other ingredients and taste the dressing with salt, pepper, and sugar.
  • Tip: You can also prepare a little more dressing if you like. The sesame dressing will keep in the fridge for about two to three days in sealed jars.

Healthy eating with Japanese sesame dressing

This dressing is also easy to prepare.

  • For the purely Japanese version of the salad dressing, you need two tablespoons each of sesame, tahini, and water. Also set up a tablespoon each of rice vinegar, sugar, and Japanese soy sauce.
  • In this recipe, too, the sesame is lightly toasted in a pan without oil. After cooling, crush the sesame seeds again with a mortar. This time, however, the mass does not have to be so fine. The dressing is a bit coarser overall.
  • Now simply mix the crushed sesame with the remaining ingredients and pour the sesame dressing over the salad.

Sesame is not only a salad dressing

This recipe not only goes well with salad but also goes very well with falafel or grilled lamb.

  • For this recipe, you will need 3 tablespoons of tahini, as well as 4 tablespoons of yogurt and 5 tablespoons of lemon juice. To do this, add about eight tablespoons of water.
  • The dressing is seasoned with a small clove of garlic, a pinch of chili powder, two sprigs of fresh thyme, and some salt and pepper.
  • First, wash the thyme and chop it as finely as possible. With garlic, it is sufficient if you chop it roughly and then crush it with a knife.
  • Mix the crushed garlic with the tahini, yogurt, lemon juice, and enough water until the dressing is the consistency you like.
  • Now season it with salt, pepper, and chili powder and stir in the thyme – your sesame dressing is ready.
