Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 g chickpeas, dried
  • 1 slice(s) white bread
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s), very finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp coriander or parsley
  • 1 tbsp coriander, ground
  • 1 tbsp cumin, ground
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 50 g bulgur
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 50 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Total time approx. 12 hours 50 minutes

Chickpea balls

Soak the chickpeas for at least 12 hours, drain, and rinse. Soak the bread, squeeze out excess moisture, and blend with the chickpeas in a blender until a paste forms. Add all the spices, mix, and season to taste. Finally, add the bulgur (alternatively, use 3 tablespoons of flour per 50g of bulgur) and baking powder and knead well. Form into small, walnut-sized balls and fry in deep-frying oil until golden brown. Serve with salad and tahini (sesame sauce).
