Fasten the worktop correctly – that’s how it works

The cutting of the worktop is much more complex than the installation itself because the exact cutting determines the position of the future worktop. How to fix your worktop:

• Preparation: Before you can attach your worktop, you should have made all the preparations that would then be too time-consuming. This includes, for example, installing the kitchen sink or the fittings. You don’t have to keep the components in place all the time, but you should check that they are properly seated before attaching the plate.
• Corners: If your countertop goes around a corner, it is made up of two pieces. In order for these pieces to connect properly, you need a connector profile. You can get the connection profile from a hardware store or kitchen retailer. It is screwed to one of the two worktops and then pushed against the other top. Tip: Apply silicone to the surface under the connection profile, this will seal it.
• Align: As soon as you have screwed on the connection profile, you can align your worktop. You should proceed as precisely as possible because it is the final position. Make sure the panel is flush with the cabinets. In addition, all fittings, the stovetop, and the kitchen sink should be in the right position. If your worktop is very heavy, you should get someone to help you.
• Screwing: If your worktop is correctly aligned, it can be screwed. You can get the right screws for this at the hardware store. Often, however, they are supplied with the delivery of the kitchen. If there are no instructions in your kitchen, screw the plate to each individual cabinet. It is sufficient if you screw the plate on the outer edges, central screws are not necessary. However, if the stability is lacking, screw the plate in the middle as well.
• Finish: Finally, seal the transitions to the walls with silicone. You should also seal the flushing edges. To protect the edges of your worktop, attach the edge protection. Once you have screwed all the components tight, you can insert the stove and finally install the kitchen sink. The fittings are then installed.
• Tip: If you have not yet installed a worktop, the help of a professional can be useful. However, you can get the work done yourself with a little manual skill. Otherwise, ask your friends, you might get good help there.
