Instructions

Thuringian sheet cake or fat cake from the sheet, without semolina

Make a quark dough from the ingredients for the base, roll out the dough and place it on a baking sheet. For the topping, mix the quark, sugar, eggs and flour until smooth. Melt the margarine and add it to the lukewarm mixture. Mix everything together and pour it over the quark dough. Spread the cherries on the cake. For the cream, mix the sour cream, vanilla pudding powder and egg yolk. Beat the egg whites and fold into the mixture. Spread the cream over the fruit to form a topping. Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 60 minutes. The baking time varies slightly depending on the juiciness of the fruit. The cake is done when the topping is already browned. You can test whether the cake is done with a wooden skewer. Variations: In addition to sour cherries, the cake tastes particularly good with fresh fruit such as apples, pears, gooseberries or currants.
