Fish: Matjes with Bacon Beans

The perfect fish: matjes with bacon beans recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 2 Herring fillets
  • 75 g Bacon
  • 1 kl. Onion
  • 1 tbsp Oil, neutral
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 100 g Beans, green
  • Salt
  • Black pepper from the mill
  1. Finely dice the bacon and onions.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the bacon in it for 5 minutes. Add the onion and fry for 3 minutes. Add butter and melt.
  3. Boil the beans in plenty of boiling salted water until they are firm to the bite, drain and mix with the bacon and onion mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Arrange the matjes fillets with the bacon beans and serve.
  5. This goes well with jacket potatoes or baguettes.
