Flatbread with a twist

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 flatbread(s)
  • mayonnaise
  • butter
  • Ham, cooked
  • Cheese, for gratinating
  • tomato(s)
  • onion(s)
  • pepper
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Buy a round flatbread and cut it in half horizontally to create two round, filling surfaces. Spread one half with butter, the other with mayonnaise (e.g., Miracle Whip). On the mayonnaise-covered side, place the cooked ham, then the tomatoes, and then the cheese. Then, add the diced onions (sautéed first if desired) to the cheese. If you like, omit the onions or add a little nutmeg and/or pepper. Place the bottom half of the bread in the oven (on the middle rack) at 190°C (375°F) for 20 to 30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the onions are cooked—don’t let it overbrown! Place the second half of the bread with the butter on top as a “lid” and let it bake for about 10 minutes at the end.
