Freeze shortcrust pastry – this is how it works
If you want to freeze shortcrust pastry, you don’t need any special skills. You should only know how to store the shortcrust pastry correctly.
- Place the shortcrust pastry in a sealable plastic container or freezer bag. If you already know exactly what you want to make with the shortcrust pastry and you have plenty of space, you can even freeze the dough in the cake tin.
- It is best to freeze the dough without air. This will prevent the dough from drying out. This is particularly important if you are storing the dough for a long time. Shortcrust pastry can be stored in the freezer for up to three months. It only lasts three days in the fridge, although you should also store the dough as airtight as possible.
- If you want to use the dough again, nothing stands in your way. All you have to do is get the dough out of the freezer early enough. It is best to let the shortcrust pastry slowly thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
- The next time you make something from shortcrust pastry, you can stock up on more dough than you need. You can easily freeze the leftover dough. This saves you work when you are in the mood for something sweet.
