Fried red cabbage strips

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 400 g red cabbage
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • e.g. oil or clarified butter
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • e.g. vinegar, mild or Aceto Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 pinch(s) clove powder, to taste

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Slice or shred the red cabbage into 2-3 mm thin strips. Heat the oil or clarified butter in a large pan, add the sugar, and stir until caramelized. Add the red cabbage strips and cook over medium heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, depending on how firm you like it. Then deglaze with a little vinegar or balsamic vinegar and season with salt and pepper. If you like, you can also add a pinch of clove powder. We serve this with meatballs and mashed potatoes and celery.
