Spread the love

The name sounds cute, but they are a real nuisance: so-called strawberry legs. But what exactly is behind the annoying beauty problem and what can you do about it? Find out now how to declare war on the black dots!

These Are Strawberry Legs: Causes

These little black spots on the thighs and lower legs quickly spoil the dream of perfect legs – and they show up, especially shortly after the shave.
Known in this country as shaving shadows, among other things, the phenomenon is known in the USA as strawberry legs. In German: strawberry legs. The origin of the term is clear: the tiny dots are reminiscent of the black seeds on the red fruits.
But what is the cause of the disturbing beauty flaw? In fact, the dots are usually nothing more than hair follicles. So: stubble.
This last remnant of hair is just under the top layer of skin and usually cannot be caught with a razor or depilatory cream. The result: the follicle peeks out of the pore and is visible to the naked eye as a black dot. Because of this, strawberry legs are more of a problem for women with dark hair. Finally, the brown and black hairs are particularly visible.
But there can be something else behind strawberry legs: namely tallow or dirt. It’s in the large skin pores that are suddenly open when you shave – and it now oxidizes with the air. The result: a black coloration.

Prevent strawberry legs: practical tips

The easiest way to prevent strawberry legs is to epilate. This method of depilation also removes the roots of fine hairs. This way, no follicles are left behind that could be visually visible.

But if you prefer the classic shave: Use a razor with at least five blades and make sure that they are always fresh. Because: the sharper and more precise the tool, the closer to the root the hair is cut.

It is also advisable to pamper your legs with a peeling shortly before each shave. This skincare removes sebum and dirt from the pores. The risk of oxidation, i.e. blackening, is thus averted. Another advantage: Blades glide better over freshly peeled skin. Your shave will be even more precise.

This prevents hair follicles from peeking out and the dream of flawless summer legs is within reach again!
