Ginger Hearts

The perfect ginger hearts recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 375 g Sugar
  • 1,5 heaped tsp Ground ginger
  • 0,5 tsp Salt
  • 200 ml Hot water
  • 1,5 Pck. Vanilla sugar
  • 0,5 Lemon – zest of the peel
  • 565 g Flour
  • 0,75 Pck. Baking powder
  1. Put the sugar, ginger and salt in a mixing bowl. Pour the hot water over it and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Then stir in the vanilla sugar and lemon zest zest.
  1. Mix flour and baking powder and sieve over. Knead everything well with the dough hook of the hand mixer. If necessary, rework with your hands until you have a smooth, easily malleable dough.
  1. Cover the dough and let it rest in the refrigerator until the next day.
  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  1. Roll out the dough about 3 mm thick on a lightly floured surface. Cut out hearts, place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake for 10 minutes until light yellow
  1. The above quantity refers to pieces.
