Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g flour, sifted
  • 175 g butter
  • 150 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp white pepper
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • e.g. chocolate glaze or icing

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

spicy, quick Christmas cookies

Knead all ingredients together into a dough and chill for about 30 minutes. Then roll into sausages and cut each into 1 cm thick slices. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake for about 10 minutes at 175°C (top/bottom heat). Once cooled, drizzle with chocolate or powdered sugar, if desired. I got the recipe from my Danish teacher, who in turn got it from her parents in Denmark, and so on. I’ve been baking them every year since then.
