Gooseberry chutney

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 240 g sugar
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 liter of vinegar, approx.
  • 1 kg gooseberries
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder
  • 150 g garlic
  • 250 g raisins

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Lightly roast the mustard seeds and then crush them. Make a syrup from the sugar and half of the vinegar, adding salt and pepper. Bring the gooseberries to a boil with the remaining vinegar and all the other ingredients. Add the syrup and cook until the chutney has thickened and is a puree-like consistency. Pour into prepared jars. After storing for 6 months, it will make a delicious chutney for your barbecues.
