Grandma's bread dumplings

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 rolls
  • 375 ml milk
  • 4 eggs
  • Salt
  • nutmeg
  • Parsley as desired
  • possibly butter and breadcrumbs for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Cut the rolls into slices, pour hot milk over them, and stir vigorously (you can also toast them briefly in butter beforehand for a more refined flavor). Then cover and let stand for 30 to 60 minutes (maybe a little longer, depending on whether the rolls are still firm). Then knead the eggs, salt, and nutmeg into the dough you made above. Either wrap a whole ball in a tea towel and let stand in boiling water for 30 minutes, or pour the mixture into a greased pudding dish sprinkled with breadcrumbs and let this stand in boiling water for 30 minutes. Then turn it out of the dish; it will then look like a Bundt cake.
