Grandma's macaroni casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g macaroni, long or short
  • 2 leeks (or just 1 leeks if you prefer)
  • 1 can tomatoes, chopped, approx. 400 g
  • 200 ml cream
  • 150 g Emmental cheese, grated
  • 150 g cooked ham
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp herbal salt
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Cook the macaroni until al dente. Slice the leek into thin rings. Dice the ham and finely chop the garlic. Sauté the leek until soft. Add the ham, garlic, and tomato paste and fry briefly. Then add the remaining ingredients and simmer briefly. Layer the macaroni, sauce, and cheese in a casserole dish. Bake the casserole in a preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 30 minutes.
