Ingredients for 2 servings:
- 2 packs of cheese (e.g. Emmental), grated
- 1 cup of tzatziki
- ½ bottle of sauce (garlic sauce), to taste
- 2 large onions
- some garlic cloves, also to taste
- 1 pack of pizza dough with tomato sauce, from the refrigerated section
- 1 pack of meat (gyros)
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes
It’s best to cut the onions into nice, long strips, not as small as you would for fried potatoes. Mince the garlic as usual. Brown the meat in a pan, add the onions and garlic, and cook until well-cooked (set some of the onions aside and don’t cook them with the onions). While this is happening, you can place the finished pizza dough on a wire rack. Baking paper is usually included with the finished dough. I recommend using a wire rack so the heat reaches the dough from all sides. Whether you want to use the tomato sauce is up to you; I personally found it very tasty because it adds a fruity flavor. Spread the tomato sauce over the dough, then spread the tzatziki over the tomato sauce. Sprinkle the raw onions evenly over the entire surface. Place the cooked meat in the center of the coated dough, spreading it slightly outwards. Now add the garlic sauce, according to your taste. Add about one package of grated cheese to the dough. Shape the dough into a pocket. This may require a bit of patience and finesse, but otherwise it’s not a big deal. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on the now folded pocket. Bake in the oven at approximately 150-180°C until the dough is nice and crispy. You can simply follow the instructions on the pizza dough package. This pocket will easily last one person for two days, even if you’re very hungry.
