Bread made from yeast dough filled with cheese and ham or mushrooms
Weigh the flour and add a little salt. Make a small well in the flour and crumble in the yeast. Add lukewarm water and let the pre-dough rest for 10 minutes. Knead the dough thoroughly and let it rise in a warm place for 2 hours 50 minutes. Preheat the oven to 250°C (fan oven). Divide the dough into 2 equal halves. Roll each half out to a length (approx. 20 cm wide). Top one half with cheese, ham, or mushrooms. Place the other half of the dough on top of the filling and press the edges together. Press in the places where the loaves are to be separated. Dust the bread with flour and bake at 250°C for 30-40 minutes. Spread 1 tablespoon of sour cream on each loaf. Handbrot is well-known for its sale at numerous festivals and events such as Rock im Park, WGT, Oktoberfest, etc.
