Hardening Of The Arteries: Cranberries Strengthen The Blood Vessels

Cranberries contain a substance that should actually be called vitamin P. Because the so-called proanthocyanidins stimulate the immune system and protect the body from dangerous cell toxins and thus the blood vessels.

They are the No. 1 health hazard: so-called free radicals. This is nothing more than poison for the cells. UV radiation, ozone, intensive sport, stress, smoking, and alcohol promote increased formation. Long-term consequences: the immune system can no longer repair cell damage, aging processes are accelerated and the function of organs is impaired. What’s more: “Excessive oxidative stress can even contribute to the development of diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or cancer,” warns physician Dr. Katja Svennevig. Fortunately, vitamins, especially vitamins C and E, protect us from cell terrorists and at the same time strengthen the body’s defenses – but unfortunately often not sufficiently.

But recently researchers have discovered a true miracle cure: so-called proanthocyanidins (PAC). They are mainly found in the North American variant of the lingonberry, the cranberry. This “vitamin P” fights free radicals up to 50 times more powerfully than vitamin E and 20 times more effective than vitamin C. And the red berries can do even more: they put a protective film on mucous membranes and vessel walls and thus reduce the risk of arteriosclerosis, stomach problems, or a bladder infection. This is because viruses and bacteria are prevented from settling on the mucous membranes. The healing substances in cranberries are particularly effective in combination with a pomegranate extract (from the pharmacy). Studies have shown that this also Strengthens the immune system and also lowers high blood pressure, prevents cancer, and can reduce the risk of heart disease by up to half – without side effects.
