Colorful and healthy: fruit skewers as a snack for children
This healthy snack is even sweet and is therefore particularly popular with children. You probably have some fruit at home most of the time. Otherwise, just put colorful fruit such as bananas, grapes, or strawberries on your shopping list for the next time you visit the supermarket. You will also need a couple of long wooden skewers.
- The healthy fruit skewers are quick to prepare: cut the fruit into small, bite-sized pieces.
- Now skewer the pieces of fruit alternately on a skewer. Remember that the children still need to be able to hold the skewer, so don’t overload it.
- Your healthy fruit skewer is ready and the children will surely be happy about it.
- Alternatively, instead of fruit, you can stick vegetables on the skewers and quickly have a few vegetable skewers that are just as healthy.
Healthy Apple Peanut Butter Snack
This healthy snack combines raisins and slivers of almonds with healthy apples and walnuts.
- Core an apple. An apple corer is particularly suitable for this and will continue to be a practical kitchen helper in the future if you don’t already have one.
- Now cut the apple into slices about 0.5 centimeters wide and spread a thin layer of peanut butter on one side. Make sure you choose a peanut butter that contains as little added sugar as possible.
- On top, you can sprinkle a few raisins, slivers of almonds, or chopped walnuts. This gives you a vitamin-rich and healthy snack that also contains omega-3 fatty acids.
Homemade popsicles without sugar
Especially in summer, such a cool, refreshing ice cream is tempting. Unfortunately, ice cream varieties from the supermarket often contain a lot of sugar and are anything but healthy. Our tip: simply make a healthy water ice cream for your children yourself.
- It is best to use popsicle molds for this.
- Fill the molds with your children’s favorite juice. If you like it colorful, you can also fill the mold halfway with one type of juice, let it freeze, and then fill it up with a different color of juice. So you get two-tone ice cream after freezing.
- For even more excitement and vitamins in the ice cream, cut fruit into slices or small pieces and place them in the ice cream mold while the juice is still liquid.
- You have to wait almost 3 hours for the ice cream to harden in the freezer. It is best to prepare it in the evening and let it freeze overnight.
Oatmeal Cookies: Healthy and delicious
These oatmeal biscuits are easy to make and contain valuable fiber, nuts, and vitamins. An ideal substitute for an unhealthy candy bar.
- You will need: 240g rolled oats, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, 120g peanut butter, 4 tbsp honey, 1 peeled apple, cut into small pieces, 1 mashed banana, 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds, 1 tbsp cranberries or raisins and 4 tbsp ground flaxseed
- The preparation is quite simple: Mix all the ingredients into a firm dough and form balls that are about the size of a ping-pong ball. The amount of dough is enough for about 10 pieces.
- Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and flatten them a little with a fork.
- The oatmeal cookies bake at 175 degrees for 15 minutes and should then cool down before they can be eaten.
Healthy fast food: cauliflower nuggets
With the cauliflower nuggets, you save yourself the trip to the nearest fast food chain and do something good for your children.
- The ingredients: 300g cauliflower, 1 egg, 1 egg white, half a chopped onion, 3 tbsp chopped parsley, 2 tbsp finely chopped hand cheese
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Divide the cauliflower into florets and boil them in salted water for 4-5 minutes. They should not become too soft, but should still be al dente.
- Drain the cauliflower well, then chop finely with a knife.
- Place the chopped cabbage in a bowl and add all the other ingredients. You can season everything with salt and pepper.
- Now use two spoons to form small dumplings from the cauliflower mush and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. If you like it crispy, you can brush the dumplings with a little oil.
- After 10 minutes in the oven on one side, turn the nuggets and bake them for another 10 minutes. They should be a nice golden brown.
- If you want to do without unhealthy ketchup, give the children homemade herb quark with the nuggets.
