Hesse Porridge

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 cup oat flakes, wholegrain
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt
  • Vegetable broth, instant
  • some butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 minute; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 6 minutes

Hearty porridge, just like my mom makes. Can also be prepared as a soup.

1 cup is approx. 150 ml Melt the butter in a small saucepan and briefly fry the oats. Then add the water and season with salt and vegetable stock, bring to a boil and then add the milk. For soup, simply use more water and adjust the amount of seasoning. Let it cook until the desired consistency is reached. I prefer not to overcook it so that the oats do not become completely mushy. I prefer it when the oats are ‘al dente’. My mom used to cook this for me whenever I was sick. Now I eat it like that, too. Simply because it tastes good. The 2 people mentioned above can easily be replaced by one very hungry person.
