Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 chicken legs
  • salt and pepper
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 large apple
  • 2 cl Calvados
  • 1 cup apple wine / cider
  • 1 cup cream, whipped stiffly
  • 2 egg whites, beaten stiffly
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp marjoram
  • 1 tsp thyme

Chicken drumsticks with cider, apples, and a curry crust – delicious!

Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper and fry in butter until golden brown. Meanwhile, peel, core, quarter, and thinly slice the apple. Add to the thighs and sauté briefly. Pour in the Calvados and apple cider and simmer over medium heat for 20 minutes. Mix the whipped cream with the egg whites. Stir in the curry powder and herbs, and season lightly with salt and pepper. Cover the thighs with the cream and egg white mixture and bake in the oven for 10 minutes until golden brown. Spätzle (noodles), rice, or mashed potatoes are suitable as a side dish.
