Homemade goulash

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg goulash
  • 2 large onions, peeled and diced
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • cumin
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder
  • oil
  • Water
  • n. B. Sauce thickener, dark

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours

Sear the meat and diced onions in hot oil. Season with about 1 tablespoon of caraway seeds, salt, pepper, and paprika, and stir in the tomato ketchup and mustard. When the goulash is browned on all sides, deglaze with water and simmer for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring frequently. Add more water as needed to keep the meat covered. Taste again, adjust seasoning, and thicken with a dark sauce thickener if desired. Perfect with pasta, all kinds of dumplings (yeast/potato, etc.), rice, or potatoes with red cabbage.
