How Do You Get Kids Excited About Healthy Eating?

When children refuse healthy food, with patience and calm you can gradually change their minds. Children don’t care whether their meals are particularly healthy or not. The main thing is that it tastes good and is fun. It is therefore important that you do not force your offspring to eat their plate empty against their will. If you get angry, scold, or threaten punishment, you are more likely to put children off healthy eating.

Therefore, make sure that you have a familiar, comfortable, relaxed, and happy atmosphere when eating. Problems should not be discussed at the dinner table, only afterward. Otherwise, children associate eating together with negative experiences and are even less interested in taking part than before. Also, set a good example and enjoy a varied diet with sufficient vitamins and nutrients. This way your child can see that you like it and that the food can’t be that bad.

Make sure there is the variety on the plate and arrange the meals in a colorful and imaginative way. In this way, you make vegetables, fruit, and co. more palatable for children. In addition, most children prefer uncomplicated food. So if your offspring refuses cauliflower florets, carrots, or jacket potatoes, prepare a puree or salad from them. Small cut fruit and vegetables are often better than whole pieces. Children are also more enthusiastic about minced meat or goulash than about pieces of meat that they first have to cut into small pieces or remove the bone from.

Let the little ones help with the preparation of meals and encourage independent behavior as early as possible. Prepare as much food as possible yourself and involve the child in the kitchen work. If possible, grow your own fruit, vegetables, or herbs together with the offspring on the balcony or in the garden. This encourages your child’s curiosity and makes them more willing to try out the unfamiliar.
