Carrots are a popular vegetable. It is widely used in cooking and baking. In addition, the root vegetable is not only healthy and usually easily digestible, but also tastes sweet. This makes carrots a favorite ingredient for baby food – such as in our recipe for parsnip and carrot porridge. And anyone who has ever fed a baby knows that something can go wrong.

But also when squeezing carrots, peeling or grating carrots, juice (cell fluid) escapes, which can leave stains on clothing, carpets, tablecloths, and kitchen utensils. As with many stains, quick help is best for carrot stains. Sometimes a quick rinse with tap water is enough. For fresh stains, but also if the stain is older or has dried, you can proceed as follows: Dilute the carrot stain with carbonated mineral water and dab the area carefully.

The following applies to washable textiles: You can then add gall soap, vegetable oil or baby oil. After about 30 to 60 minutes exposure time, the part goes into the washing machine. Note: Not all textiles tolerate gall soap, so do a test beforehand (leave to work for 60 minutes). If the fabric is colorfast, you can proceed to treatment. Otherwise, curd soap also works. And if something goes wrong on the way, baby wipes containing oil will help against carrot stains in a hurry.

If you only wear white clothes or light-colored textiles, you can bleach carrot stains with a paste made from lemon juice and baking soda or baking soda. Here, too, it is important to check the fabric for color fastness beforehand. An illuminating tip for removing stains in the truest sense of the word: Sunbeams also bleach fresh carrot stains. And carrot stains on plastic and plastic can be removed with margarine, butter, or oil.
