How Long Does Ground Beef Need To Roast?

Spread the love

Many dishes can be prepared from minced meat and it is particularly suitable for quick cooking. We’ll show you how long the ground meat has to roast and give you tips on how to sear it perfectly in just a few minutes so that it’s juicy and aromatic on the table.

Absolutely versatile

You can use ground beef in a lot of recipes in the kitchen. Even if you are a beginner when it comes to cooking, you can quickly put a delicious meal on your plate with minced meat. Our favorite ground beef recipes are:

  • Stuffed cannelloni with minced meat
  • Classic chili con carne
  • Leek cream soup with minced meat and melted cheese

Depending on your taste and the recipe, you can use minced pork, beef, mixed, or even lamb or poultry.

Minced meat from the butcher

It’s a bit more expensive than in the supermarket, but you’ll quickly notice the difference when you fry it. Minced meat from the supermarket shelf or from the discounter often loses a lot of water during preparation and becomes dry, in the worst case even tasteless. The quality plays a big role – if you buy your minced meat from the butcher, you can look forward to the meat that is nice and juicy after frying and simply tastes much more aromatic.

Top priority: freshness

Since minced meat has a very large surface area, it is particularly susceptible to bacteria and spoils quickly. If possible, you should always use it the day you buy it, or at least fry it to cook with it the next day. Minced meat must be kept well chilled – it is best to take a special bag or a cold pack with you when you go shopping. So you are on the safe side.

Properly fry ground beef

Important: Minced meat is always eaten well-done, but should not be roasted until it is absolutely dry. Depending on the amount of meat, it is best to fry several portions in a row. This way the pan doesn’t cool down too much when you put the minced meat in and enough roasted aromas can develop. This makes the finished meal even tastier! For the same reason, it’s best to take the meat out of the fridge 15 to 30 minutes before cooking and cook it at room temperature.

Tip: Always add a bit of oil when frying and use a sufficiently large pan, otherwise the meat will boil rather than fry.

Our tips will help you to prepare perfectly roasted minced meat and show you how long it needs to roast:

  • Heat a little high-heat oil in a sufficiently large pan
  • Put a not too large portion of meat in the pan and distribute
  • let fry in peace (do not stir, this will create the desired roasted aromas!)
  • only stir after 2 to 3 minutes
  • Continue frying for approx. 3 -4 minutes until evenly browned

Because you don’t stir the meat at first, it becomes nice and crumbly and doesn’t lose any of its delicious meat juices. When you have fried all portions of your ground beef, put the entire amount back into the pan. Only then should you season the minced meat and use it depending on the dish.
