How to Wash Sweaters to Make Them Last: Don’t Make a Grave Mistake

Some people make gross mistakes when washing sweaters.

How to Wash Sweaters in a Washing Machine

The first and most important rule is not to wash sweaters in bulk. For example, if you want to wash a wool sweater, then you can do it at a maximum of 20-30 degrees and without spinning. Otherwise, the appearance of the sweater will be ruined, and you will have to throw it away.

In addition, you should not wash wool sweaters often. If you put it only 1-2 times and did not stain, you can just air it on the balcony. If you just want to freshen it up, you can rinse it in the washing machine at a temperature of 20-30 degrees.

How to Wash Sweaters So They Don’t “Shrink”

Sweaters can “shrink” if you wash them at a high temperature. Hot water has a negative impact on wool. Therefore, it is best to wash sweaters at low temperatures, so they will retain their marketable appearance for a long time. The ideal is to wash it by hand, using a mild detergent. For example, shampoo for brittle hair or baby powder.

How to Dry Sweaters Properly

If your machine does not have a gentle drying function, then it is recommended to put a towel on some surfaces and carefully spread the sweater on it. If you hang it on a rope, then left a crumpled mark, which is already impossible to fix anything. Also do not dry sweaters near the radiator.
