Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g almonds, coarsely chopped, unpeeled
  • 200 g sugar
  • 4 egg whites

  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 100 g chocolate, coarsely chopped, bitter
  • 100 g dark chocolate coating for garnishing

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

makes about 45 kisses

In a saucepan, toast the almonds with half the sugar until golden brown, stirring constantly. Let cool. Beat the egg whites with salt until stiff peaks form. Then add the other half of the sugar to the beaten egg whites. Beat until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is glossy. Now fold in the sifted powdered sugar, the cooled almonds, and the chocolate. Place walnut-sized heaps on baking sheets lined with baking paper. Let dry for about 30 minutes at just 150 degrees Celsius. The widow’s kisses should still be slightly moist inside. Once cooled, dip halfway into dark chocolate.
