Is Pomegranate Juice Good for the Brain – The Answer of Scientists

Researchers have answered an old and long-standing question – whether regular consumption of pomegranate juice can have any effect on the human brain.

The consumption of pomegranate juice by pregnant women can protect their fetuses from brain injuries during intrauterine development. This was reported in a press release on MedicalXpress.

American scientists have found that delayed fetal development is a common disease that occurs due to a lack of nutrients and oxygen in the newborn’s body due to placental defects. About one in ten babies are diagnosed with a delay, which increases the risk of death and neurodevelopmental disorders.

The study involved 99 pregnant women who were divided into several groups depending on the level of pomegranate juice consumption. The MRI results showed evidence that daily consumption of the polyphenol-rich beverage may reduce the risk of brain injury in babies with such delays (especially in the third trimester, when the baby’s central nervous system may be particularly vulnerable).
