- oregano
- Parsley
- Paprika powder, hot
- salt and pepper
- vegetable oil
- 2 class can/n tomatoes (Pizza tomatoes)
- 1 m.-large onion(s), diced
- 1 tsp vegetable broth
- some sugar
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Place the pizza tomatoes in a pot and bring to a boil. Add a diced onion, chopped garlic, oregano, 1 teaspoon of vegetable stock, pepper, and salt, and simmer gently for at least half an hour. Stir occasionally. At the end of the cooking time, season with a little sugar. Trim the edges of the brown bread and crumble it into small pieces. Briefly soak in warm water, then squeeze the excess water out. Add the bread to the minced meat along with the egg, diced onion, ketchup, and seasoning, and knead everything into a dough. Form the dough into meatballs and fry in a little vegetable oil. Once the meatballs are cooked through, pour the tomato sauce over them (careful: they may splash!) and simmer gently for about five minutes, including the pan juices. Rice cooked in vegetable stock is a good side dish, but pasta is also a good choice.
