Italian-style ham rolls

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g turkey or chicken breast meat
  • 1 pot of basil, fresh
  • 200 g Black Forest ham (sliced)
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Fat, for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Cut the turkey or chicken breast into small slices (like schnitzel), season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover a slice of ham with a few basil leaves, add one or two strips of meat, and then cover with more basil leaves. Then roll the whole thing up like a roulade, securing it with a wooden skewer if desired. Repeat this process with the remaining ingredients. Sear the rolls in a pan until they are nicely browned, then cook them over low heat until they are finished. Serve with basmati rice, pesto pasta (my favorite: basil pesto), or bugettes. The rolls are also great cold for a buffet. P.S. I prefer to fry them in an iron skillet because of the flavor.
