Japanese sesame chicken

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g chicken breast fillet(s), in pieces
  • 1 bell pepper(s), cut into thin strips
  • 1 chili pepper(s), finely chopped
  • 2 m.-sized carrot(s), in narrow strips
  • 2 tsp pepper (Szechuan pepper)
  • 10 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 5 tbsp soy sauce, sweet (Ketjap Manis), alternatively regular soy sauce
  • 6 tbsp sesame oil, toasted
  • 400 g noodles, Japanese Somen or alternatively Mie noodles
  • Oil (peanut oil)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Cook the noodles in a little salted water for 3-5 minutes, drain, and set aside. Toast the sesame seeds in a pan without oil, then set aside. Add the meat pieces to a pan with plenty of lightly simmering salted water. Heat peanut oil in a pan, add the bell peppers, carrots, garlic, and chili, and sauté for 5 minutes. Then add the sesame seeds, Sichuan peppercorns, ketjap manis, the chicken, and the sesame oil, and stir-fry for another 3 minutes. Add a splash of water, if desired. Serve with the noodles.
