Kasseler – casserole with potatoes

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes, small
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 400 g smoked pork, boned
  • 1 bunch of spring onions
  • 30 g butter
  • 40 g flour
  • 100 g cream and 3/4 l milk
  • 5 tbsp cheese, grated
  • salt and pepper
  • Parsley

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Wash the potatoes and boil for about 15 minutes, drain, rinse in cold water, and peel off the skins. Wash the smoked pork, pat dry, and dice. Peel and finely dice the garlic. Finely slice the spring onions. Melt the butter in a saucepan and sauté the garlic until translucent. Dust with flour and sauté. Deglaze with milk and cream and bring to a boil. Stir the smoked pork cubes, spring onions, and cheese into the sauce. Season with salt and pepper, and stir in the chopped parsley. Transfer the potatoes to an ovenproof dish and pour over the smoked pork sauce. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 15 minutes.
