Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g sugar
  • 250 g nuts, chopped
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 10 egg whites
  • 80 g sugar
  • 150 g butter
  • 125 ml milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp cognac or brandy
  • 80 g sugar
  • 70 g butter
  • 80 ml milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp cognac or brandy
  • nuts for decoration, if desired

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 30 minutes

Russia’s most delicious cake in the world

Combine the sugar, chopped nuts, flour, and vanilla sugar. Beat 10 egg whites until stiff peaks form and fold into the batter. Divide the mixture into two equal round, greased baking pans and bake for 2 hours at 120°C. Let the cakes cool for an hour. Beat the buttercream ingredients for the light layer until fluffy, as well as the ingredients for the dark layer. Spread the light buttercream on the first layer, then place the second layer on top and spread the dark buttercream on the second layer. Decorate with chopped or halved nuts, if desired. This cake is only available in Russia for special occasions.
