Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

simple and inexpensive, from the Roman pot

Finely chop the white cabbage and cook in a large pot with a little water (covering the bottom) until soft. Remove the bacon from the bacon rind and add it whole to a pan. Finely dice the remaining bacon and heat it gently in the pan until the bacon is swimming in its own fat. Then chop the onions, add them, and fry everything briefly. Place the white cabbage, onions, and bacon in a Roman pot and cook in the oven at 100°C (top/bottom heat) for about 45 minutes. Cook the pasta and then add it to the Roman pot. Season everything with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. If you have too much white cabbage, you can also bottle it before adding the pasta and freeze it. It tastes just like freshly cooked when thawed and reheated. This dish is great on cold, gray days!
