Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 waxy potatoes, medium or large
  • 200 g grated cheese (Turkish Kasar or Emmental)
  • some butter
  • Vegetables, varieties of your choice, cut into pieces, possibly blanched
  • Sucuk or other sausages, sliced
  • Corn, pickles, mushrooms, from the jar or can
  • some sauce, e.g. ketchup, mayonnaise, yogurt

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

the Turkish potato for home

Bake the potatoes in the oven at 200°C – 250°C (top/bottom heat) for approximately 30 – 60 minutes. Pierce with a fork to check for doneness. Remove the potatoes (the skin should be crispy) and place them in a suitable bowl, splitting them in half but not cutting all the way through. Then, loosen the insides with a fork. Add a knob of butter and mix. If desired, add a little grated cheese and mix well. Finally, top the potatoes with the listed ingredients, as desired. Smaller potatoes are a hit with kids!
