Landjäger are smoked, air-dried raw sausages with a typically square shape. Depending on the region, Landjäger contain beef and/or pork, bacon, rind, sugar and spices (salt, pepper, coriander, cumin, garlic). They used to be handed out as long-lasting provisions when working in the fields, but today they are extremely popular as a snack for hikes, excursions and snacks.
