Ingredients for 5 servings:

  • 450 g lentils
  • 2 marrow bones
  • 250 g smoked pork
  • 5 sausages (Knacker or Mettenden)
  • 7 allspice berries
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 slice(s) celeriac
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 5 m.-sized potatoes

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes; Total time approx. 1 day 1 hour 25 minutes

Family recipe

Soak the lentils for a few hours. Cover the smoked pork and marrow bones with salted water, add the allspice berries, celery, and onion, and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 40 minutes. Drain the lentils. Strain the meat broth into the lentils, chop the meat and potatoes, and add them. Slice the sausages and add them. Simmer everything on low heat until the potatoes are tender. It’s best to let it soak overnight; that’s when the stew tastes best.
