Macaroni casserole with ham

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g pasta (macaroni)
  • 250 g tomatoes
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 200 g ham, cooked
  • margarine
  • ½ bunch parsley
  • Salt and pepper, white
  • 80 g cheese, grated (Emmental)
  • 3 eggs
  • ¼ liter cream
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 20 g butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the macaroni until al dente. In the meantime, peel the tomatoes, halve them, and remove the stems. Deseed the tomatoes and roughly dice them. Dice the onion and ham. Heat the margarine, sauté the onions until translucent, and add the ham and tomatoes. Fry for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Chop the parsley and add them, season with salt and pepper. Drain the macaroni and let it drain. Layer the macaroni, tomatoes, and 50g of grated cheese in a greased, ovenproof dish, then top with the macaroni. Whisk the eggs and cream in a bowl and pour over the macaroni. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and 30g of grated cheese. Sprinkle with butter in small pieces. Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C on the middle rack for 30 minutes.
