Every cake and every tart needs the real dough. So in this article, we’re going to show how easy it is to make a sponge cake the right way so you can impress your family and friends.
Easy preparation of a biscuit dough
Many confectionery products require complex preparations. The sponge cake, on the other hand, is very simple and does not require any special products or skills.
- The sponge cake is so simple and delicious that after making it, you can also turn it into a cake or Swiss roll with whipped cream and fresh fruit.
- You need: 4 separate eggs, 4 tablespoons of warm water, 75g flour, 175g sugar, 1 pinch of salt, 75g cornstarch, and a pinch of baking powder
Prepare a sponge cake in 6 easy steps
Before you start baking your cake, make sure you have a suitable baking pan. If you want to use the dough for a layered cake after baking, you should use a springform pan. If you’d rather make a Swiss roll instead, you can use a baking sheet.
- Place the egg yolks, water, and sugar in a bowl and mix with a mixer on high speed until fluffy.
- Mix the flour with the salt, starch, and baking powder and slowly add to the egg mixture.
- Then beat the egg whites until stiff and carefully fold them into the rest of the mixture.
- Then brush the baking pan with oil or butter and sprinkle with flour so that the dough does not stick. If you prefer to line your mold with parchment paper, this step is not necessary.
- When you have the mixture prepared, immediately pour it into the baking pan.
- The dough then needs 10 to 15 minutes in an oven preheated to 180°C (convection). It is best to test the dough with a toothpick after this time.
