Make butter from cream yourself
All you need is cream with at least 30% fat, a mixing bowl, a mixer, a wooden spoon, and a fine sieve or a thin cotton cloth.
- You can make about 200 g of butter from 500 ml of cream.
- The cream should be at room temperature before you use it.
- Put the cream in the mixing bowl.
- Set the mixer to high and beat the cream until lumps of butter form.
- The liquid that collects during the process is buttermilk.
- Now put the flakes in the sieve and press the buttermilk out of the mass with a wooden spoon.
- Incidentally, you can enjoy the resulting buttermilk as a low-fat drink.
- Alternatively, you can put the butter in a cotton cloth and squeeze out the liquid.
Refine homemade butter
You can spice up your butter according to your taste.
- The following ingredients are particularly delicious: parsley, chives, dill, rosemary, thyme, basil, lavender, chili, cress, wild garlic, mint, garlic, anise, nettles, lemon zest, sea salt, pepper, mustard, curry, paprika, pesto, wasabi, and Horseradish.
- Chop fresh herbs very finely and add them to the butter.
- Mix different spices together. Your imagination is the limit. Adjust the amount to your personal taste.
- Then knead the butter and the ingredients well with a fork.
Store homemade butter
You can just put the butter in a plastic jar or shape it into any shape you like.
- To get a roll, put the butter on cling film.
- Flip the foil over the butter once.
- Then, run your hand from the outer edge toward the butter while holding the other end of the foil.
- You can then twist the ends.
- Your butter will keep in the fridge for about a week.
- You can also freeze the butter without any problem.
