A festive menu is part of Christmas. And of course, a dessert should not be missing from a well-rounded menu. We have put together three ideas for sweet temptations at the festival for you.
Dessert for Christmas: Classic baked apple with a difference
Baked apples are probably the classic when it comes to Christmas desserts. You can upgrade the simple dessert in a sophisticated way. Our recipe is designed for four servings.
- You will need 2 large apples, 4 tsp butter, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1 tbsp lemon juice.
- The apples are later garnished with sprinkles. These are made from 75g flour, 30g butter, 25g sugar, 2 tbsp oatmeal, and 1 tsp water. Served with four scoops of vanilla ice cream and some powdered sugar.
- First, preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Make the crumbles from flour, butter, sugar, rolled oats, and water and spread them out on a baking sheet. After ten minutes in the oven, they are done.
- While the crumbles are baking, wash and halve the apples. Remove the core and cut the halves deeply into thin slices, but not all the way through. The apple halves should be cut in a fan shape.
- Drizzle the apples with lemon juice and place the halves cut-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Put a teaspoon of butter on each apple and spread the cinnamon mixed with the sugar over the fruit.
- The baked apples need about 25 minutes in the oven until they are ready. Then arrange one half of the apple on a plate, spread the crumble over it, and decorate with a little powdered sugar. Each serving comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
DIY dessert without baking: Christmas speculoos tiramisu
Our second Christmas dessert is a success without any baking.
- For six portions you need a suitably large form and 16 speculoos.
- For the cream, weigh out 75g powdered sugar and 200g frozen raspberries. Also aim for 500g low-fat quark and mascarpone. You will also need a packet of vanilla sugar, a pinch of cinnamon, and three tablespoons of orange juice. For dusting, mix together 2 tsp cocoa powder and 1 tsp cinnamon.
- For the cream, put the raspberries, the vanilla sugar, the powdered sugar, the quark, and a pinch of cinnamon in a bowl and mix all the ingredients with a mixer to form an even cream.
- Then fold in the orange juice and mascarpone.
- First, line the mold with a layer of speculoos and spread about half of the cream on top. The second layer of speculoos follows, followed by the rest of the cream.
- Now you have to put the tiramisu in the fridge for at least five hours.
- At the very end spread the cocoa-cinnamon powder over it. It will be particularly festive if you use stencils with Christmas patterns.
Sweets for dessert: Chocolate always works
Chocolate pudding is a popular and quick-to-make dessert. Our recipe makes this simple dessert very Christmassy.
- For four portions you need half a liter of milk and a 100g bar of dark chocolate. Add 35g cornstarch, 40g sugar, and a pinch of salt. The chocolate pudding is refined with two tablespoons of roasted almonds. A teaspoon of cocoa powder serves as decoration.
- First, mix the cornstarch in six tablespoons of milk until smooth. Chop the chocolate into rough pieces.
- Now slowly heat the remaining milk with the chocolate pieces, the sugar, and a pinch of salt in a saucepan, stirring constantly. When the chocolate has completely dissolved, add the dissolved cornstarch and let everything boil again briefly. You also have to stir constantly.
- Now fill the pudding in nice bowls or glasses and let it set in there.
- Before serving, sprinkle the pudding with the roughly chopped almonds and a little cocoa powder.
