Make Cold Brew Coffee Yourself – That’s How it Works

Spread the love

Cold brew coffee is anything but cold coffee. If you want to make the refreshing drink yourself, you don’t need any special machines – just time.

How to make cold brew coffee yourself

Cold brew coffee is not “brewed” but prepared with cold water.

  • Put 100 grams of freshly ground coffee in a carafe or French press. The coffee should not be ground too fine – coarse is enough.
  • Now pour cold water over the coffee and stir with a spoon to distribute the coffee in the water.
  • Covered, the drink should stand at room temperature for about 12 hours.
  • If you have prepared the coffee in a carafe, you need a second container and a hand filter. This will now filter the coffee. Of course, it’s easier with a French press: Here you can easily press the filter down.
  • Some liquid is likely to be lost during the steeping time. In this case, you can fill up with water until you have the desired amount of cold brew coffee.
  • You can enjoy the cold brew coffee immediately. However, it also keeps quite well: You can keep it for ten days – but then in the refrigerator.
  • Of course, you don’t have to drink the coffee “pure”. A dash of milk or cream goes very well with it. If you would like the coffee to be even more refreshing, simply add a few ice cubes – or a scoop of ice cream.
