If you don’t have a use for too many plums, you can freeze them. The taste is almost 100 percent preserved and they still look great on a plum cake later. We show what you have to consider when freezing.
How to freeze plums & prunes
- First, sort out rotten and bruised plums.
- Then clean the leftover plums with water.
- Halve the clean plums lengthways and remove the stone. Then make sure that the skin of the plums is as dry as possible.
- To prevent the fruit from sticking together when frozen, place the fruit next to each other on a tray or in a plastic bag in the freezer for about three to five hours. Then get the plums out again.
- You can now freeze the pre-frozen plums together in a freezer bag – or better yet in a plastic box – for about nine to twelve months.
