Freezing Plums – That’s How it Works

If you don’t have a use for too many plums, you can freeze them. The taste is almost 100 percent preserved and they still look great on a plum cake later. We show what you have to consider when freezing.

How to freeze plums & prunes

  1. First, sort out rotten and bruised plums.
  2. Then clean the leftover plums with water.
  3. Halve the clean plums lengthways and remove the stone. Then make sure that the skin of the plums is as dry as possible.
  4. To prevent the fruit from sticking together when frozen, place the fruit next to each other on a tray or in a plastic bag in the freezer for about three to five hours. Then get the plums out again.
  5. You can now freeze the pre-frozen plums together in a freezer bag – or better yet in a plastic box – for about nine to twelve months.
