Creamed spinach is easy to make yourself. You can find the ingredients for this in every supermarket and you can start preparing immediately. In this kitchen tip, we explain how it works and what you need for it.

Make creamed spinach yourself: the ingredients

For homemade creamed spinach you need the following ingredients:

  • 100 g onions, diced
  • 1kg spinach leaves, washed and hulled
  • 150 ml whipped cream
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • pepper, salt, and nutmeg

Prepare creamed spinach: Here’s how

First, clean the onions and garlic. Finely chop both ingredients. Also, wash and hull the spinach.

  1. Put the oil in a saucepan. Sauté the onions in the heated oil. Then add the garlic.
  2. Add the spinach to the onions. Let them simmer on medium heat for five minutes under a closed lid.
  3. When the spinach wilts, add the cream. Mix well and let the mixture simmer for about three minutes.
  4. Season your homemade creamed spinach with salt, pepper, and a little nutmeg.
  5. Take the pot off the stove and puree everything to a homogeneous mass.
