Make Effervescent Powder Yourself: Instructions For Imitation

Make effervescent powder yourself – the ingredients

You can find the ingredients for your own effervescent powder on every baking shelf. For 175g you will need the following:

  • 5 tsp citric acid (an adult should always be present when working with citric acid)
  • 2 tablespoons baking soda
  • 6 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp jelly powder (color and taste as you like)
  • Various small glasses to fill the finished effervescent powder

Make effervescent powder yourself – instructions

  • If you have everything together, you can mix your own effervescent powder:
  • Fill the citric acid, the baking soda, the icing sugar and the jelly powder into one of the small glasses. Mix it all up.
  • Close the jar. Give it a good shake again and you’re done.
  • Leave the effervescent powder for a while after making it. Store dry.

Further use of the effervescent powder

  • Once your effervescent powder is mixed, you can use it in the following ways:
  • Put some effervescent powder in your mouth with a small teaspoon. Let the bubbly mixture melt in your mouth.
  • If you add some water to the effervescent powder, a chemical reaction will start. The citric acid will react with the baking soda. This creates carbon dioxide – the water starts to bubble and your tongue tingles.
