Coriander is one of those ingredients where opinions differ – either you love it or you hate it. It is even suspected that this could be genetic. Those who love coriander appreciate its strong, distinctive flavor and its flexible use as pesto or in marinades. Those who don’t like cilantro will be put off by the slightly “soapy” taste.

Coriander is a typical Southeast Asian herb that can be used from the seed to the root to the green herb. As a seed, it can be used very well for curries or meat dishes by roasting the seeds in a pan beforehand.

The roots can be processed into spice and curry pastes – separate from the rest of the herb, clean and chop, then chop in a blender.

You can simply wash the coriander, shake it dry and pluck off the leaves or chop them together with the fine stems. Coriander goes great with soups, salads, vegetable dishes, curries, meat, fish, and poultry. It goes well with almost all Asian dishes and gives them a fresh note at the end.
