Make gummy bears yourself: you need that

  • The gummy bears are based on 100 ml of fruit juice. Which flavor you use depends on your taste and the color you want for the bears.
  • Since we are presenting vegan gummy bears, use one to one and a half level teaspoons of agar-agar instead of the usual gelatine.
  • You also need a sweetener. This can be one or two teaspoons of sugar. You can also substitute the same amount of agave nectar or maple syrup for sugar.
  • Finally, you need a tablespoon or two of lemon juice.
  • To form beautiful gummy bears, you can use special silicone gummy bear molds. If the shape is not so important to you and it is all about the taste, ice cubes or praline molds are also suitable.

DIY: Recipe for fruit gums

  1. First, mix the agar-agar with the fruit juice in a bowl and let it swell for a few minutes.
  2. In the next step, add the sweetener and stir well.
  3. Now heat everything in a water bath. Stir often and finally add the lemon juice as the last ingredient.
  4. Now you can take the mixture out of the water bath and pour it into the mold provided.
  5. The gummy bears must now be chilled for at least half an hour before you can take them out of the mold.
  6. However, it is better if you give the fruit gums a little more time in the fridge.
  7. Then you can already snack on the first homemade and vegan gummy bears. If you want to store them, it is best to keep the bears individually next to each other. The reason: since, unlike store-bought gummy bears, they are not sealed, they tend to stick together.
