Make Hemp Milk Yourself: The Best Tips and Tricks

You can make hemp milk quickly and easily yourself. It not only tastes delicious but is one of the healthiest cow’s milk alternatives and is perfect for allergy sufferers. With these tips and tricks, you are guaranteed to succeed in preparing it correctly.

You need this for one liter of hemp milk

You can use two different types of hemp seeds for hemp milk: Hulled hemp seeds and unhulled hemp seeds. We explain to you what you have to pay attention to.

  • For one liter of homemade hemp milk, you need no more than one liter of water, 100-120g of peeled hemp seeds (about 10 tablespoons), and optionally some sugar (1 teaspoon) or another sweetener.
  • Put everything in a blender and blend the ingredients for about two minutes until you get a milky liquid.
Alternatively, you can also use unpeeled hemp seeds. These give the hemp milk a slightly nuttier taste.
  • Follow the same steps as with hulled hemp seeds. After mixing, however, you should filter the hemp seed residue out of the hemp milk with a nut milk bag.
  • To do this, simply put the nut milk bag over a container and add the hemp milk. Then wring out the nut milk bag over another container.

So you can give the hemp milk a special taste

If the basic version of hemp milk tastes too boring for you or you would like some variety, you can further refine the drink with different ingredients.

  • As previously mentioned, you can use hulled hemp seeds for a nuttier flavor. Unpeeled hemp seeds give hemp milk a milder taste.
  • If the taste of the hemp milk is too intense for you, you can simply dilute the milk with a little water.
  • As an alternative to sugar, you can use natural sweeteners: dates (3-5 dates per liter of milk), honey, or syrup (e.g. date syrup, sugar beet syrup, agave syrup, or maple syrup).
  • You can also add vanilla to the hemp milk. Vanilla does not sweeten the milk quite as much as syrup but gives it a pleasant aroma. You can use half a whole vanilla pod, scraped out, for one liter. Of course, the vanilla powder works too.
  • A little cinnamon in the hemp milk also tastes good for a special aroma.
  • If you’re not a fan of sweet milk, you can round off the flavor with a pinch of salt.
