Make Quetschies yourself – save avoidable waste
Quetschies are definitely not a substitute for real food or a snack for your toddler to nibble on. By chewing, the child promotes the chewing and speaking muscles. Nevertheless, homemade quetschies in particular also have a few advantages.
- Ready-made quetschies are twice as expensive as homemade ones.
- With a little time, you can clearly save money.
- The content of the products from the trade is often questionable. Because the Quetschies have already had a certain transport time behind them and are therefore full of preservatives.
- The Quetschies are often not made from fresh organic fruit, but mostly from fruit concentrate to which sugar is added. This makes them true sugar and calorie bombs.
- With the homemade variant, you also avoid unnecessary aluminum and plastic packaging that pollutes the environment. Because you can use reusable squeeze bags for your homemade fruit puree.
- The squeeze pouch is simply washed to be ready for use.
- With your homemade quetschies, the vitamins are better preserved and you know exactly which ingredients are used. This is a quick and easy way to make a healthy snack for your toddler.
Make Quetschies yourself – a recipe
Babies’ and young children’s stomachs are still developing. This means that parents have to be careful what the fruit puree drinks contain. Orientate yourself on your child’s preferences and on seasonal fruit, which is best organically grown. Your homemade fruit puree can contain the following ingredients, for example:
- An organic apple
- Three plums
- A handful of raspberries
- Wash all the ingredients.
- Peel and core the apple and also core the plums.
- If necessary, cut all three ingredients into smaller pieces and puree them. A blender is sufficient for this.
- The squeeze is ready. You can freeze a supply and take it out of the freezer when needed, or give the snack to the child right away.
- You can also make smoothies and put them in squeeze bags.
