Marinated Halloumi

The perfect marinated halloumi recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 400 g Halloumi cheese
  • 1 Spring onion
  • 5 tbsp Vegetable broth
  • 5 tbsp Soy sauce
  • Lemon zest from 1/2 lemon
  • Pepper
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  1. Pat the grilled cheese dry and cut into 3 pieces each. Cut the spring onion into thin slices. Mix the broth and soy sauce together. Mix in the lemon zest and spring onions and season with pepper. Put the grilled cheese with the marinade in a freezer bag, close tightly and leave to steep for 12 hours, preferably overnight.
  2. Drain the grilled cheese and collect the marinade. Heat the oil in a non-stick pan and fry the cheese until golden brown on all sides for 8-10 minutes. Add the marinade and let it boil down briefly. Cut the cheese into slices and serve drizzled with the marinade.
